A path of set stones runs back under a stone arch, ivy loose over the keystone. Inside, shelves climb both walls and a reading chair sits pulled close to them, a book left open on the table.
One lantern hangs from the arch and does all the work. Through the window the moon is up over cold rooftops.
Somewhere to put your eyes when the room is loud.

The stones are cut and set one at a time. The lanterns are the last thing to go in — fine LEDs soldered inside the frame, so the light seems to come from somewhere real.
